WHAT IS MENTAL HEALTH?
Mental health refers to our behavioral, cognitive, and emotional well-being, its the way we think, feel and behave. The term "mental health" is sometimes used in reference to the absence of mental disorder.
Mental health can exert influence on relationships, daily life, and even physical health. Mental health also includes the ability of a person to enjoy the activities of life - to achieve a balance between life activities and attempts to achieve psychological flexibility.
RISK FACTORS OF MENTAL HEALTH
Experts say that we all have the ability to develop mental health problems, whatever your age, whether you are men or women, are rich or poor, or which ethnic group you belong to.
Each year almost one of the five Americans suffer from a mental health problem (18.5%). In the United States, in 2015, about 9.8 million adults (over 18 years old) had serious psychiatric disorders. This is equivalent to 4.8% of all American adults.

BIOLOGICAL FACTOR INVOLVED IN MENTAL ILLNESS
Some mental illnesses are associated with the abnormal functioning of nerve cell circuits or pathways that connect certain areas of the brain. Within these brain circuits, nerve cells communicate through chemicals called neurotransmitters.
HEREDITY (GENETICS)
Occasionally mental illnesses occur in families, which states that people who have a mental illness family, they may be more likely to develop. Sensitization spreads through families through genes. Experts believe many mental illnesses instead of one or more related abnormalities in several genes and interact with the way these genes environment, that everyone (even identical twins) Is unique. This is the reason that a person gets sensitivity to mental illness and does not necessarily develop the disease. Mental illness itself is caused by exposure to many genes and other factors like stress, violence or a painful event - which can affect or trigger illness in a person who is predefined for it.
Infection
Some infections are linked to brain damage and mental illness development or deterioration in its symptoms. For example, a condition is known as the pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatic disorder (PANDA) associated with Streptococcus bacteria is associated with the development of the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and other mental disorders in children.
Brain abnormalities or lesions
Some abnormalities or lesions of the brain are also linked to some mental illnesses.
Prenatal damage
Some evidence suggests that the development of fetal brain or disruption of trauma at birth - for example, loss of oxygen to the brain - may be a factor in the growth of certain conditions, such as -Autism Spectrum disorder.
Substance Abuse
Especially the misuse of long-term substances is associated with anxiety, depression, and reflection.

Increase you
Don't criticize yourself, treat yourself with kindness and respect. Exit your hobbies and favorite projects or expand your horizons. Crossword every day, place gardens, take dance classes, learn to play an instrument, or master some other language, these will help to improve mental health.
Take care of your body
Caring physically may improve mental health, make sure you eat nutritious food.
Avoid Cigarettes
Quitting cigarettes will improve your immune system.
Drink lots of water
Exercise
Exercise helps to reduce depression and anxiety and improve mood.
Sleep enough
Researchers believe that lack of sleep contributes to high rates of depression among students. One should have at least 6-8 hours of sleep.
Surround yourself with the good people
People with a strong family or social relationship are usually better than those without a support network. Do projects with family members and friends who help you, or search for activities where you can meet new people like clubs, classes or support groups.
Give yourself
For your time and energy, volunteers need to feel better in your need - and this is a great way of meeting new people.
Learn how to handle
Like it or not, stress is part of life Adopt good coping skills: Try stress strategies in one minute, practice tai chi, exercise, go for a walk in nature, play with your pet or try writing a diary, don't forget to smile and don't miss the humor in life. Research shows that laughter can boost your immune system, relax.
Calm your mind
Try meditation, and/or prayer. Rest practice and prayer can improve the state of your mind and your vision of life. In fact, research shows that meditation can help you to feel calm and improve the effectiveness of treatment. To connect, consult the spiritual resources on students' personal welfare.
Avoid alcohol and other drugs
Keep alcohol consumption low and avoid other medications. Sometimes people use alcohol and other medicines for self-care, but in reality, alcohol and other drugs only make things worse.
